Enjoy learning traditional Gaelic song from the comfort of home. In this acclaimed online class you will learn òrain luaidh (waulking songs), port-à-beul (mouth music), and classic cèilidh songs.

We focus on pronunciation, musical delivery, and song provenance, utilising archival field recordings from Tobar an Dualchais and other resources. A great way to improve your Gaelic and cultural understanding of life in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

An Introduction to Scottish Gaelic

Times: Mondays, 7:00 pm-8:30pm (UK Time)
Schedule: 6 week course commencing 28 September 2026

A confidence-building starting point for anyone curious about the Gaelic language and culture. Delivered on Zoom, this 6 week course introduces essential conversational Gaelic alongside cultural context; including history, place-names, and modern usage.

You will learn the basics of the spoken language and gain the confidence to continue your learning journey using the free SpeakGaelic resource. You will even learn a few Gaelic songs (singing on mute)!

Scottish Gaelic - Beginner Follow-on Class

Times: 1.5 hour classes
Schedule: 6 week block (autumn) to be announced late summer.
Cost: £75

This six-week online course is for anyone who has already started learning Gaelic (possibly from my course An Introduction to Scottish Gaelic) and are seeking further classes using the Speak Gaelic A1 online resources. These classes usually are from Speak Gaelic Subject 5 onwards.

The class runs at a quicker pace than many other courses and you are required to go over the course material and worksheets yourself over the week. It is geared towards those who are genuinely keen to speak the language and prepared to work hard to build confidence in their conversational and listening skills.

1-1 Online Singing Classes: Master authentic vocal styling, timing, and ornamentation within the Gaelic (seann-nòs) and wider folk traditions. I will help you interpret lyrics and build the confidence to present traditional songs to audiences.
Traditional Music / Folk Song Accompaniment: Covering chord progressions, rhythmic structures, and session styles for acoustic guitar (standard or DADGAD tunings) or Bodhrán.
Songwriting Consultancy: Practical, creative mentoring to help you develop your material, structure arrangements, and prepare songs for your public.
