Bruidhinn Air Loidhne, hosted by Highland-based tutor Brian Ó hEadhra, offers an exciting opportunity for beginners to immerse themselves in the Gaelic language and culture.

About the Class:

Bruidhinn Air Loidhne is a five-week online conversation class designed specifically for individuals with little or no knowledge of Scottish Gaelic. Led by experienced tutor Brian Ó hEadhra, the class aims to provide a supportive and engaging environment where beginners can develop their conversational Gaelic skills.

Class Schedule:

Dates: 5, 12, 19, 26 September 2023

Duration: Four weeks

Time: Every Tuesday 

Time Slot: 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm (BST/Scotland)

Registration & Payment:

Please register for the course by emailing me here. The course fee is £30 UK and can be made via Paypal here (please state the course name and provide your email address).  Please select payment to "family/friends" as this avoids having to pay a commission to Paypal.  Payment in advance of the course is appreciated.  A Zoom link will be sent to you once you have registered.   If you aren't registered with PayPal then just let me know and I can make an electronic invoice for you to pay by card without having to register.  You can also register via Eventbrite

What technology do I need to participate in the online class?

You will need a stable internet connection, a computer or mobile device with a webcam and microphone, and access to a video conferencing platform Zoom to participate in the live sessions.

Will I receive any learning materials?

As we are focused on speaking we will keep written material to a minium. You are encouraged to take notes.  Notes written by the tutor can be sent to students after each class.  

Is there any homework or assignments?

While there are no mandatory homework or assignments, practicing outside of class is encouraged to reinforce your learning. Additional resources and suggestions for self-study will be provided to help you further develop your Gaelic language skills.

What happens if I miss a class?

In the event that you miss a class, we will always recap what we learned the week before.  However, we highly encourage attending the live sessions to actively engage in conversations with other learners.

I'm nervous; will this be too much pressure on me?

Please be rest assured that there is no pressure put on you in front of the whole class. In the small groups in the Zoom rooms, you will speak with one or two others at a similar level to you.  All are encouraged to be kind and help one another on this learning journey.
